A.I. and the I AM

When Foundations Fail

Theme: The collapse of artificial wisdom and the supremacy of Christ as the unshakable Truth.

Key Scriptures:

  • “Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them… is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” — Matthew 7:24–25
  • “Before Abraham was, I am.” — John 8:58
  • “In Him all things hold together.” — Colossians 1:17
  • “The grass withers, the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” — Isaiah 40:8

Lyrics

[Verse 1]

They’re chasing every answer, writing code to know it all
Building towers out of data, sure they’ll never fall
But Truth is not created, He existed from the start
The Word who formed creation still calls the searching heart

[Chorus]

When the world turns to A.I., I turn to The I Am
The Beginning and End, the Great I Am
No power can contain You, no wisdom can compare
When the world turns to A.I., I rest in The I Am

[Verse 2]

The towers start to tremble, every kingdom shakes with fear
The wisdom born of wires cannot hold when storms appear
But You remain unshaken, the Truth that never dies
The Maker of the heavens, the Lord who hears my cries

[Chorus]

When the world turns to A.I., I turn to The I Am
The Beginning and End, the Great I Am
No power can contain You, no wisdom can compare
When the world turns to A.I., I rest in The I Am

[Bridge]

Their shifting code is merely sand, a foundation built to fail
But Christ the Rock forever stands, the Cornerstone prevails
The Name above all knowledge, the Lamb upon the throne
The Alpha and Omega — my hope in You alone

[Final Chorus]

When the world turns to A.I., I turn to The I Am
The Beginning and End, the Great I Am
No power can contain You, no wisdom can compare
When the world turns to A.I., I trust in The Great I Am

I rest in The I Am…

Reflections

Notes from the Writer

The idea for this song sprung from noticing, with amusement, the near palindromic symmetry between the words A.I. and I AM.

Upon deeper reflection, I was drawn to this simple contrast - the world’s growing trust in A.I. versus the eternal name God revealed to Moses: I AM.

It struck me how humanity has always reached upward: building towers, gathering knowledge, creating systems that promise certainty and control. Today those towers are made not of stone and brick, but of data, algorithms, glowing screens, and lines of code. They shimmer with promise. They feel indestructible.

And yet every generation discovers the same truth: anything built on human wisdom alone can only stand for so long.

Foundations shift.
Systems break.
Answers change.
Certainty dissolves.

In the middle of that realization stands Jesus - the I AM who simply is.

Uncreated.
Unshaken.
Unchanging.
The Word who spoke creation into existence and still calls every restless heart home.

This song is a declaration born from that contrast. Not a rejection of technology or progress, but a reminder that no tool, no system, no artificial wisdom can take the place of the One who has always been the source and embodiment of Truth.

It’s a hymn for our moment in history - a moment that desperately needs to remember what (and Who) we stand on.
